Espelette (64250)Espelette is a lovely little village down the mountains of about 1879 inhabitants.
This village is very famous for its peppers of Espelette. The village has an old feudal castle of XIVe century, witch is a large building with round tower where the town hall is now installed. The church St Etienne, dating from XVIe century is worth a visit. One will note his bell-tower porch Renaissance and an astonishing nave. Espelette enjoys an ideal situation: down the first mountains of the Pyrenees (Mondarrain), one can make splendid excursions in the surroundings.
